Anyone have an opinion on any of these manufactures? I have heard that Dynamat is good but it seems expensive. I also saw a review of Second Skin products and people seem to like them. Thoughts?

dynamat
edead
fatmat
rammat
brown bread
second skin

I'll give a second to this.I think it is peel and stick flashing.I have used it on three vehicles and it works great. If you heat it a little with a heat gun or hair dryer it forms and sticks really great. It works well on the inside of doors if some spray adhesive is used with it.

Most of the carpet kits you get have an option to buy the carpet with the factory style sound deadener included. The difference in cost is maybe 30.00 and it works just as well or as good as dynomat which will cost you an easy 300.00 more. You also don’t need to cover the entirety of the surface to cancel the noise.

I used dynamat on most of the interior (floors, roof, behind back seat, package tray, firewall, etc) on my 64 and it was a night and day difference from before to after. Way less road noise, way less exhaust drone, less rattles, and the car has that really nice thud when closing the doors. I still need to do my doors and trunk eventually but have no issue recommending it. Sure it can be spendy but it's not a wear part by any means and on long trips it's well worth it to keep your sanity from road noise. Any noise reduction is going to help in these older cars.

I used fatmat in my last 2 cars, along with a friends 68 camaro and another friends 66 chevelle. Seems to work well.

I have been looking at the lizard skin spray for my 67. I think it will be a cleaner overall look, but I would not hesitate to use fatmat again.

Second skin

Ive used the Second Skin Damplifier Pro on my last 3 cars (one is my 77 Chevy pickup) with some Dynamat sprinkled here and there. Only cause I got a REALLY good deal on the dynamat. I've tried the Peel stuff from Home Depot as well. Of the 3, the Damplifier worked the best to include keeping heat out of the cabin. And I do mean, keep it OUT. There was always a hot spot at the carpet right over the exhaust and now it stays just as cool as the area not above the carpet.
To note, the peel stuff may of been a bad batch, but when I used it on vertical areas, I found I needed to use spray adhesive during the summer, it had started to peel itself off when it was really hot

I have used Dyna Mat and Fat Mat. I really can't tell any difference between the two materials once they are installed. Fat Mat is a great deal for the price. I believe the kit I bought was 100 square feet. It was more than enough to line inside the door panels, under the roof, firewall, floor pan, etc.

The Lizard Skin insulates from heat better than the Dyna Mat/Fat Mat type products. However, it does not deaden from sound as well as the Dyna Mat/ Fat Mat. A buddy of mine that builds Hot Rods typically uses both materials on his hot rods.

i held a swatch of it right next to dynomat and couldn't tell the difference. i will
review it after the car is put back together.
