oil pan for LS1

So what is the best pan to use for an LS swap if replacing with a GM part?

What is the best aftermarket pan to use without breaking the bank?

Still in the learning stages about the LS AND WHAT i need to do for the swap.

Replacing the batwing ugly a** oil pan for my LS1.

Thanks,Joe

I have a heidts superride and tried the GM Muscle car pan and it hit the rack. Put a F_body pan on and it fits perfect.

i tried to fit the stock LS3 vette pan , it will not fit the tci M2 clip on a 1st gen tried a holley 302-1 , supposed to be like a f body pan, wont fit.
guess f body is only option.

Where is the interference? The front of the pan?

The holley 302-2 has closer dimensions to the f-body than the 302-1. The 302-1 hangs down lower in the front.

yes WAY to low hits rack. im pissed i was told by a non member here its the same pan and fits.

That pan did not fit my 66 with a heidts front end, it hit the rack and hung way too low. F Body pan fit perfect
Had a local guy that's done 11 ls swaps tell me that the chevy Colorado four door with the 5.3 has the best oil pan for swaps.

I took my f-body pan over one day and compared to one of his 5.3 pans and they have at least 2" more hang down than the f-body pan. Looks like what has already been said by others here the f-body pan is still the best choice.

Another option to the GTO pan for a front sump option is the Moroso front sump pan. Fits great. You can get a windage tray, pickup and dipstick from Moroso to go with it as well. Also, it comes with a billet remote oil filter setup (twin -10AN fittings but you can request a spin-on filter mount for a few bucks more from the 20150 pan).

Here are some pics and specs. The pan fits in my 63 NOVA with stock subframe, Sanderson headers and Flaming River rear-steer rack & pinion.

if you don't want to pony up the money for the holley pan, which stock style pan would best fit a 72 and not hang way too low and clear stock steering without modifying the frame?
