There's been no mention of the new Holley 302-2 oil pan on this thread yet, so I figured I'd post up basic info about it for those who wish to consider using it.

The design basically combines the front profile of the 4th-gen F-body pan and with the rear sump dimensions (it's actually 3/16" shorter at the bottom of the sump) of existing 302-1 Holley oil pan that has been on the market for the last couple of years. It is also the only other oil pan on the market, besides the existing Holley pan, that bolts to the transmission bellhousing to preserve the NVH properties designed into all stock GM LS oil pans.

You can use it in its as-received form in any installation that has previously required the use of a notched 4th-gen F-body pan. The advantage of using the it over a notched 4th-gen pan is that you don't suffer the diminished oil capacity penalty that you do with using the notched 4th-gen F-body pan; the Holley pan holds 5.2 quarts.

The pan was designed specifically for use with the new Hooker engine mounting brackets (not the old swap plates) and transmission crossmembers for 1st-gen F-body/ 3rd-gen Nova LS swaps, so you won't find a pan more directly suited to the design geometry of a 3rd-gen Nova...it clears the steering center link and inner tie rod ends by a mile without having to jam the engine completely up against the firewall as you have to when trying to use an un-notched stock 4th-gen F-body pan.

If anyone wants CAD dimensions of the pan, I can post them up next week if you feel it would be helpful info to add to this thread.
 
New to the LS swap i've had my 69 nova for a while but recently decided to begin this project. I've got all my parts needed for the body restore now working on the engine i have a 6.0 ls. and trying to figure out which oil pan will work with my stock k-member at the stock ride height.

This is really helpful. I'm starting all the research/shopping for my LQ9/4L65e swap and it seems like most (almost all) of the swaps require either notching the frame or the oil pan. I don't want to do either.
 
Had a local guy that's done 11 ls swaps tell me that the chevy Colorado four door with the 5.3 has the best oil pan for swaps.
don't believe it....98-02 f body pan is the best....why buy something that is unproven in novas when something that has been proven many times over by nova owners....buy what fits:yes:
 
I thought it was the hummer pan. Still not as shallow as the f body pan.

I might be wrong but it thought the Holley muscle car pan is based on the hummer pan.

It's only 119$ buy it try it out give some feed back.

I know my car isn't that low and my f body pan might be 5-6" from the ground. That one might be 4. And worse if you like your car low.

But in your link it says 2010 hummer applications. Anyways there was enough people on here that confirmed the best fitment was the f body I wasn't taking any chances. Only wanted to do it once. But it's your car and if that pan is what you want to use then use it.

I'm not taking any chances but I'll see if my dad who works at a Chevrolet dealer might compare them and see if they're the same or different. I never said it was a sure thing just that I was told they work well. I'll see about some actual measurements and post the results. Just trying to be some help. I'm hoping the cts-v pan on my ls2 will work on my Heidts front end when i do my swap.
