I got a complete AAW factory engine and front light harness wiring kit with the conversion for HEI for my 1972 Nova with a SBC. I am running this kit with a 6AL, but I’m stumped with the pink ignition wire that has been tied together with the yellow wire (if you zoom in on the pic you can see the wires on top of drivers valve cover). I know from the MSD instructions the large red wires go to the battery, but does this pink and yellow wire get connected to the small red wire?

Thanks

I have the same set up, but I can’t recall where the wires go. your best bet is to call AAW. I called them a few times especially when I was connecting the MSD box and I even requested that they explain it to me like as if I were a 2 year old…..they laughed and they did explain it like that :ROFLMAO:

Seriously, call AAW and be ready to take notes down. They’re customer service is awesome.

I’ll take a look at my set up tomorrow but like mc1984ss said that yellow wire doesn’t make sense.

I recently built my own engine harness and did a lot of research to eliminate all the unused wires. With the old setups the pink and yellow went to the (+) side of the coil. Pink is your power off the ignition switch and is still required but in your case it will be going to your box. The yellow can go away. The brown wire you see at the starter is actually a fusible link that connects to the red wire feed (+) to the horn relay for the cars internal power. It still needs a direct battery source they just used the starter in the old days as a junction point. I mounted a remote battery post on the firewall to serve as that junction now. The purple comes off the ignition switch and goes to the starter solenoid for starting.

Sorry to answer your question the pink wire that should go to the coil (+) goes to the small red wire on the box. The yellow is not needed.
