Will mini tubs retain back seat on a 66

Hey guys I’m collecting info to start planning my buildup of my 66 nova. I’d like to run some larger tires in the back but nothing wild maybe just a 275-295. So I was looking at this Detroit speed mini tub kit. Anyone know if the rear seat is retained or if it needs to be modified to fit afterwards. The main purpose of this car will be to throw the family in and hit a car show or go out for ice cream so I must be able to keep the back seat and would like to retain it without modifications as well.

I used the Detroit Speed mini tubs and kept the leaf springs. I moved the rear shackles inward to allow bigger wheels and tires. Those mounts are available. You don’t need to go 4 link but it will allow you bigger wheel tire combo. I’m going with 275‘s with 10” wheels on mine. Pretty much max unless you want to also move front of leafs in also. I didn’t want to go too wide as I didn’t want it look like a pro street car.
And like stated above you can keep the rear seat. Just need to modify it a little.

I was just looking at specs for mini tubs, here is what detroit speed says about tire size with mini tub

"including tires as wide as 295mm for the 1962-1965 Chevy II and 315mm for the 1966-1967"

still think 255 is about max without mini tub but with leafs either moved or removed

I moved the front leaf spring mount in and incorporated it into the subframe connector. I also used the fab quest strips for my mini tub. I can fit 275s with tons of room. I’m sure 295 would fit also with different backspacing. That becomes a key part of it. I would think you could go bigger if you trim the frame rail. I have lots of pics in my mini tub thread.
