hilborn injection?

i am building a 383 with a 6-71 blower and i was just going to run carbs but a old school hilborn 4 hole injection hat just poped up and i was thinking about buying that and running it but i have no idear about mechanical injection setups any info or insite would be appreciated

This stuff is so simple it shouldn't work but it does!.. But just like anything else you have to learn it, in your case I would send the whole unit to Ralph and tell him what you're doing and he'll set it up so you can bolt it on and it'll run and the tuneup will be close.

In the meantime I suggest going here and read the Handbook to familiarize yourself on how MFI injection works, this way you'll be able to tune it. Once it's tuned you're done, don't have to touch it unless you have a drastic change in climate or altitude!..

X2...you'll be a lot happier on the street with carburetors. If you want fuel injection, I would recommend a modern electronic fuel injection approach. The mechanical injection systems, like you mentioned, are great for WOT, methanol or nitro applications. Particularly on a blower application, the tip-in can be quite violent (lots of vacuum under the butterflies) and it's just not fun to drive. On the other end of the scale, it may end up being really rich to keep it idling, and you'll have to deal with a lot of blower roll, again no fun to drive.
