It's not sensible by any means, and if you already have the V6, it makes as much sense as having a shoe that is 5 sizes too small... You really like it and you already own it so, you cut your toes off so the shoe fits your foot... Not to mention good luck finding any even modestly high performance parts for one of these engines... But, to each their own. We won't judge (too much :p )

How about a 1UZ or a 3UZ-FE Lexus motor? Mated to a CD009 manual 6-speed? Lots of hop-up parts for those and pretty sure no one's done that before, though I might on my next build, or a 2JZ with twin turbos... Lots of performance parts, dual overhead cams, 4.0 / 4.3L V-8, amazing reliability and performance and you can get stock parts anywhere... and the 1UZ/3UZ weighs in at 430 lbs... Some have installed the Eaton M90 supercharger on top, super easy swap, and then a re-tune of the ECU and 500 hp...

And still has the SBC firing order too

Just sayin', if you want to do something different, you could put anything under the hood, but make it make sense to do. I mean, the weak GM V-6 weighs a bit more than a BBC 454 with iron heads...

I imagine that there’s probably going to be a lot to figure out in order to accomplish the GMC 305 V6 swap into a 1st gen engine bay..

I don’t know too much about those engines but I suspect there will have to be a lot of hand built modifications to make it sit in this not so spacious engine compartment. The spring/shock towers barely clear a Chevy small block and this swap also requires a special ChevyII oil pan to clear the factory steering linkage arrangement.. Engine mounts, exhaust manifolds/headers, and transmission linkage are also part of the equation to making the 305 V6 work..

I have though about a 2JZ 6 cylinder but these do have a lot of aftermarket stuff to fit them in to different platforms.. They are lighter and can make pretty ridiculous power.. These are something’s I don’t imagine the 305 V6 has going in it’s favor.

Some folks are set to fail... Some don't care. They did ask for our opinion though.... And we gave it willingly :p knowing how foolish it would be... Like stuffing a Jaguar V12 into a Honda Civic... Or yoga pants... Or Karaokè... Just because you can doesn't mean it's a good idea or that you should...

I was going to use the just because you can doesn't mean you should line🤣. There was a guy doing a 2jz in a first gen not sure what happend there. I mean the 12 valve Cummins swap is popular too probably use an A833 for a diesel gasser vibe🤔

I remember a guy offering a 3rd gen Camaro rear to friend for his 72 Nova for 100 bucks. It was a great deal because it had disc brakes! I had to "remind" him that not only would it need to be narrowed, all brackets removed and leaf spring perches installed, axles, brakes gone through, c clip eliminator etc. then after that 1000 dollar+ bill was dropped since he couldnt do it all himself the 7.5 inch is still glass. There's a reason it's a 100 bucks and it's no deal....
