Located a 1972 Ford Maverick with a 302 V8 which has the (I believe) 9" rear end and was wondering if this is a good choice to replace the current stock rear end in my "63" wagon.
The 9" requires a wrench or flex socket to undo the bolt under the pinion, the 8" can use a straight socket. You can actually notice this in the pic above, the 8" clearly shows the hole at the bottom right side of the pinion and the 9" can't be seen. This is the easiest way to tell them apart.:yes:here is a side by side comparision of the 8" and the 9"
