Has anybody installed custom autosound kick panels and speakers in a 1965 sedan or coupe? I recieved mine today and I like the looks but I can't for the life of me figure out how to make them fit without a ton of modification

hopefully here are some pics of my car and the speakers

I'm not to this point yet, but I was thinking of putting the speakers in the vent hole.
I was told with aftermarket a/c units, you don't need the vents.
I plan to have the cowl vents near the wiper arms closed off anyway.
I hope you get some answers here. I'll be watching this thread.
Good Luck with the rest of your build! It looks great.

Can you tell me what part number you got and do you have pics. I was on the phone with custom autosound tech support and am going to email pic tomorrow.

I thought about mounting in the vent hole also but I was worried about water getting on the speakers because that area is open to the cowl vent.

Here is one of them next to an origional 65 to 67 kick panel. I used my own speakers so I'll have to modify the metal on the car to make fit. You can see the difference between the ones you bought and mine. I think you need ones like mine for the correct fit. Hope this helps. By the way, I don't have a part number for you as I bought these quite a while ago off ebay.

Those are the early model 62-64 kickpanels. I've been a dealer for Custom Autosound for years and have tried and tried to get them to change their parts listings. I drive a 65 hardtop every day, so I know what should go in them. Unfortunately some businesses don't have the same familiarity with the vehicles.

Sorry for their confusion, I know it can be a hassle dealing with shipping and returns to/from Canada.

Also a recommedation: Either order the kickpanels with the upgraded speakers which will be a 200w Pioneer, or order them w/o speakers and install your own. I think VooDooII was probably referring to the standard speakers which do not sound that good.

Ya I talked to tech support for 1/2 hour today, emailed him pics of my kick panel and identical ones out of a 67 and he still tells me that the 66/67 ones that they are going to send me may not fit. I have to pay return freight but they are going to ship my replaces back prepaid. And yes I had already ordered the upgraded 200w pioneer speakers. Thanks for to every one for the help. I'll add pics to my skydrive when I get them installed
