The notch in the support goes around the door post (i.e the notch goes towards the front and to the outboard of the car). I'll see if I can dig up the instructions (you can get them from Chevy2Only).

I looked for the instructions from Chevy2Only and I could not find them in my inbox. You should email Chevy2Only and ask for them. The curved part is towards the firewall and needs to be joined with the panel there, the hole you mentioned appears to accomodate the seat belt bolt. This is being installed by the guy doing my body work, I have just been an very interested observer.

The clam shell is an extra support for convertibles that runs along the rocker panel. In my case, the drivers side had about 10 inches of length that was rusted out and the panel that is forward on the firewall (also unique to a convertible) was all rusted out. For my convertible, the Chevy2Only supports and frame connectors are being used to restore the rigidity. The panel forward of the firewall will need to be fabricated, too. That pic is dark I can barely tell what part of the car I'm lookin at. I'm curious to know what a clam shell is.

 

thanks again mike : i do have the instruction sheet. it just does'nt tell you which is left or right. i fitted mine the same as yours, but was second guessing myself. so looks like i'm good to go. DeAnne
