Autometer Gauges

I'm getting some autometer gauges and a new dash...question is about what size gauges to get for the speedometer and tach.

They have 5in and 3 3/8 in. I'm leaning towards the 3 3/8, I'm just wondering if they'll be too small. I know they will both fit.

Anyone have pictures or suggestions? Mine is a 71, but I'll take photos/suggestions from anyone.

This is the 5” Tack/Speedo option. The shape of the plastic is entirely different for the 5” gauges so don’t think you can go to those later if you pick the smaller ones. The gauges are all Phantom II’s. I added a shift light and a transmission temperature gauge where the left A/C duct would have been. In the center A/C duct location I have a wide band O2 and a nitrous pressure gauge. I move the ignition switch to the dash next to the radio because I like the way it looks and it gets it off of the Ididit tilt column. The column was special order without the ignition switch (key lock actually) but it also cost less believe it or not. Speaking of the column, to make it look right, I moved it up 3/8” and down toward the steering gear 3/4". The small knob barley visible to the right of the wiper switch is the base control knob for my sub-woofer. I put the ignition coil under the dash and the MSD Digital 6 in the glove box. I built the switch console in the floor from scratch.

Classic Dash. I studied all the products and options and noticed some were available with a 5” Tach/Speedo and some were not. After a quick call I found out (if I remember correctly) they don’t have the 5” pictured on the web site but for a little more money it is available.

As you can see the photo on the web site is different than the actual product (which I never noticed until now) but I really don’t care.

I'm actually not using a covan's dash, so whatever gauges I get will be custom fit anyway. I think I'm going to use the 3 3/8 speedo/tach and 2 5/8 for temp, oil, etc... I would go with 2 1/16 or whatever but the gauges I'm looking at don't come in that size.

Don't have a picture yet, but I went with the 5in tach and speedo and it looks real nice:cool: Someone mentioned earlier, 1st/2nd gen should have the smaller gauges and I agree...but on the 3rd gen the bigger ones look right at home.

I'll post a picture when I get a chance.
