After reading a few post in this section, I was wondering how much hp can a 3/8 line can feed? I have a 454 w/around 450hp and was thinking about installing pre-bent 3/8 and running it in the stock postion, but if 3/8 will only support around 500hp, I think I might as well find a way to adapt my 1/2 aluminum fuel line to a sending unit and a high flow mechanical pump.

thanks as always :D

Use these figures as a fuel line sizing standard:

Up to 250HP = 5/16" or -04 AN
Up to 375HP = 3/8" or -06 AN
Up to 550HP = 1/2" or -08 AN
Up to 800HP = 5/8" or -10 AN
Up to 1200HP = 3/4" or -12 AN

The dirt racers use a mechanical pump with #8 fittings attached to it for this purpose. They are a higher volumn pump than stock but like like and fit like a stock pump. Maybe Speedway or someone like them has those pumps.
