vanovafan ive been thru all these pictures 3-4 times as it amazes me the amount of new parts going on your nova. your picture quality an detail is outstanding. its sure going to be one sweet looking nova. i'd like to see one picture if you have one of the rear brakes showing all the springs installed like the picture you have on post #3 of the front brakes with the bare spindle.

Just saw it at MCACN Rosemont

Found this to be the only second gen at the show besides a wagon. Was pretty amazing. Clean as a whistle, shiny as hell. Mirror's underneath showed the depth of care taken in this car was unsurpassed. 997 score. Talked to the owner 15 minutes. Walked around the car behind the ropes. Checked out the metallic brake pads and unique brake drums. It was somewhat surreal as the car, virtually identical to mine, was so clean and perfect. Had a great time. Saw some other SNS members there too. Met em for the first time. West Coasters.

Yes, he was there. Didn't speak to him as I didn't have any legit questions. Casual owner at this point.

Absolutely amazing..! Love the blue with black interior..!

I have a question about the exhaust resonators. I been considering locating my mufflers where the resonators are in this car. What exactly do the resonators do since they follow the mufflers..?

In theory, they further muffled the exhaust so the L79 Chevy II wouldn't sound like a muscle car :D.

Might be a tight fit getting mufflers back there. The L79 Chevy II resonators are only 13 inches long and 6.25 inches across, including the flange. They're installed on an angle (52 degrees according to the assembly manual) to fit the space. You can see the angle in the pictures above.

It doesn't get any better than this, Bill. Really enjoyed Tom's story of the car.
Great job by both of you.

Thanks Bob. The car looked great at the show and thanks to Tom, it was in a perfect spot. We were right in front of the Mecum Display a few feet from the Steve McQueen Bullit car. Couldn't have asked to be put in a better spot.

But, in my mind, Tom was the star of our show. Put simply, that car is a reflection of Tom Migut's knowledge, craftsmanship, and all the years of figuring out how to get everything just right. I feel very, very, very fortunate to have been a part of the building of this car and getting it to a show of this caliber. It's everything I hoped it would be and then some.

Bill,

Very special car! Tom is just filled with tons of info. I'm amazed at how Tom &

you knew some much info on the early car parts like the trim tag and exhaust

tips and the right shape of them! I'm sure you have wore the computer keys

off your keyboard looking for parts! Great job finishing the car right and not

rushing to get ready for the show. What is next for the L79 Bill?

Will we see it at Carlisle with Tom next year? What are the other 2 66 you have?

Seen the crazy 66 at Carlisle...what else do you have at home?

Thanks to you Bill & Tom Migut for showing us all how its done right!

Here is a pretty cool chapter at the end of the story. I sent the video to the Original Owner earlier today and he said that the car looks exactly the way it did the day he picked it up. I can't imagine seeing these cars sitting on a showroom floor. I now understand perfectly when he said that once he saw the car on the dealership showroom floor, he had to have it. I told him the plan is to take the car to the dealership in Portland next summer. He said he looks forward to meeting me their to see the car and take some pictures with it. I can't wait. I plan on hitting a few shows out in CA with Nova Joe too.

The car will definitely be in Carlisle this coming year. Not sure what Tom's plans are but it would sure be nice to have him there also.

Can you please ask Tom about the oil pan in the small picture on the left? I'm told it is for the L79. The only difference I see is in the baffle.

Don't know why the pics are sized differently but the large photo is of a standard V8 pan.

Buccflyer, sorry it took so long to get back with you. I talked to Tom about your questions. Here is what came back.
The original assembly line oil pan was redesigned in Jan of 1967 as a service part, with a note inside to relieve the rear main cap for extra clearance.
That part went discontinued in the early 80's. After a month or so, they released the pan with the raised straight baffle which will NOT fit with a windage tray. Soon after they released it, they redesigned it. It came with a set of pan gaskets, because they changed the arc of the front of the pan, making it necessary to use a thicker from lip seal.

I think you'll find it showing up in all kinds of places, Bill. Well deserved exposure for a great car.
