You'll now find this car's story in post #1.

A couple of questions, Bill. Is this a Willow Run or Norwood car? What is the actual production date you got with the NCRS info? Just trying to get a better handle on how long the '721' block was used in the fall of 1965. My L79 was built November 26th with a '362' block Flint dated November 3rd.

My headrest seats were coded on the cowl tag (Canadian car). How are yours shown? Seldom see these on 1966 cars in the U.S.

Really great stuff! Thanks for taking the time to show all these photos and information.

Curious to know the factory dimensions cut in the carpet to allow hiding the seat track bottoms--which is probably for a more solid mounting of metal to metal. Never noticed it before, just plunked my buckets on the carpet like an amateur.

This is a Norwood car. The production date on the NCRS form is 10-19-65. I have in "Chevy by the numbers book somewhere"(will Look for it) that the "362" was used starting the 2nd and 3rd week of November Body Assembly Dates.

Here is the NCRS report I received. You can imagine the hesitation I had to sending off for it. But once I received it and reviewed the info. Everything lined up. The copy of the first title shows the car was purchased at Ron Tonkin Chevrolet in Portland Oregon.

Wow, what an awesome restoration. Great story. Thanks for posting all the pictures of the L79 specific components that make this car special.

I am curious as to why aftermarket pistons were used when such great pains were made to source and install so many NOS parts. Were the original pistons unobtainable?
