Temp Sensor

65 Chevy II used an Echlin (Napa) TS-6469 Temp Sensor. Resistance is 368 ohms at 100 F and 72-88 ohms at 220 F. Threads are 1/2 NPT. LS uses metric. Some kind of adapter is required.

 

To keep it simple, use an adapter to install the stock sending unit to the LS, they are available from many sources, shop around for your best price or if possible make one yourself, ism deuce gave you the sending unit's thread pitch. Good luck..

She looks beauty,but...you got 325 HP to the wheels through that air snorkel!!???...or was the air filter off?

 

352 at the wheels.

And yep they did a back to back run with it off altogether and it made 1 extra hp. I was shocked too, it's still going to get replaced with a Chevelle L79 dual snorkel intake though. I'm going for that rather than the Nova version as the Chevelle one angles forward as the Nova version will suck air from right above my fenderwell headers)

Sort of an update, screwed in a sender on the weekend but no joy as it looks like the gauge itself is not happy, kept blowing a fuse with it plugged in. Before the engine conversion and rewire I had issues with the power wire for the temp gauge burning up it's crusty 50yr old insulation so looks like the gauge may be the culprit.

Seems like a good reason to go shopping at Speedhut and fix my jumpy speedo and various other non functioning gauges.
