Which temp sensor - LS1 to 65 Nova SS Temp Gauge?

Hey all,

Long time lurker, infrequent poster!

I've recently put an LS1 in my 65 SS with Holley Terminator injection, mid rise manifold, cam, Haltech ECU.

While it's all up and running (and made 352hp at the wheels :) ) one thing I don't have working currently is the temp gauge.

I've kept the stock 65 dash - speedo, clock, 4 gauge cluster on the right. It's easy enough to buy a temp sensor for an LS1 but of course it needs to send the right signals/resistance to the stock gauge for it to read correctly.

Wondering if anyone might know a part number/sensor to fir the LS1 that will match up nicely with the stock gauge. I've had a look around and can't seem to find any info on the resistance of the stock sender (had a 283 previously) or find any tech info on the multitude of senders I can choose from that will fit!

Any help appreciated!

Pic just because!

352 at the wheels. ;)

And yep they did a back to back run with it off altogether and it made 1 extra hp. :p I was shocked too, it's still going to get replaced with a Chevelle L79 dual snorkel intake though. I'm going for that rather than the Nova version as the Chevelle one angles forward as the Nova version will suck air from right above my fenderwell headers) ;)

Sort of an update, screwed in a sender on the weekend but no joy as it looks like the gauge itself is not happy, kept blowing a fuse with it plugged in. Before the engine conversion and rewire I had issues with the power wire for the temp gauge burning up it's crusty 50yr old insulation so looks like the gauge may be the culprit.

Seems like a good reason to go shopping at Speedhut and fix my jumpy speedo and various other non functioning gauges. ;)
