Help identifying steering box and splines

I’m trying to firmly identify my steering box so I can know the input spline count and size. I can’t really see it or count them on the car, but from what I can tell it’s a Saginaw 800 or 808 (casting #5691676). Do all of these regardless of type or application have the same splines? I read somewhere that pre 1980 or something had one size and 1980 and newer has another. I also have no idea if it’s the original to the 74 or something newer. There’s a 51 stamped below the casting number and a 91 farther to the right (see pic). Thanks for any help!

Here's a bit more info - I went out there and measured the diameter of the splined input shaft and got about 20.5mm or so. That means it's 13/16" and not 3/4" right? Everything I've read indicates the Nova's are supposed to have a 3/4" so I'm really wondering if this is the original or if it was swapped with something else out of a truck etc. (like the engine...)

here are alot of I D info on the Chevy Steering Box - and a "Date code" - which should help narrow down which box you may have .............. but, I also agree - that, 50 years - things may
have changed.

Look here for good Chevrolet parts info (yes, it's a Camaro site - but, they also used many parts as the 3rd gen Novas. = a really great "site - too save" .

I do know that the manual str box used a different 'pitman arm' ; than the P/S box - - thus, a different 'spline count' .

Thanks! I love early Camaro sites for GM info - so few true resources for the X body other than right here lol. And so much is nearly identical between them.

Well I cleaned more crud off and found the date code of 098 4, which seems to put this box being made on April 8th 1964, 74, 84 or 94. Since my cars a 74, that would be in line with the original factory part. Oddly enough, that’s my birthday too…

Good thing I poked around under there though because I found my PS pump had puked its guts out the front cover. Looked slightly like a murder scene, but I wanted to replace that anyway now I have a reason.
