I'm interested in swapping my stock cast iron quadrajet intake for an edelbrock performer rpm one. Engine is a stock 85 model 454 with peanut port heads on it. Looking at the edelbrock manifolds, you buy either one for oval port heads or rectangular port heads. I realize the peanut ports are a small oval port head. Can I run the edelbrock manifold with the heads thats currently on my engine? Will it run better than the stock iron intake? Thanks guys.

The regular oval port, big block performer intake runners match the small oval port heads (plenty of material to port to the larger oval port head). My assumption would be that the RPM version would be the same, but You might want to check with Edelbrock. It would hurt flow if the intake port was larger than the head, Not as bad the other way around.
