Choosing A Crate Engine

Hello! I am purchasing a crate engine for my '68 SS and would greatly appreciate direction to previous posts on the topic of selecting the best engine for in-town & Highway driving (not planning to race her). She currently has a 383 Stroker with 500HP and 500 Torque. There's a knocking in the engine and if I've got to pull it out again, I would rather just drop in a new engine. I'm looking at a Year One 350 Create Engine (Part # CT350PC1). I'm sure there are many existing posts on this topic, but I'm searching on a small hand-held device and having trouble accessing them. Thanks!

I work at a Chevrolet Performance Parts dealer(an administrator, not in parts dept) and will offer some things to consider. Get specific details regarding the warranty on the engine, such as the expiration limits(miles and time), is there a core charge requiring a large deposit or your old engine in exchange, who has to perform the removal & replacement if there is a failure, how does the failure have to be documented? Ask lots of questions and compare the pros & cons.

The GM crate engines are warrantied for 3yrs with only a very few exceptions.

Regardless of which engine you choose be sure to keep all paper work, invoices, break-in procedure instructions(if there is a failure you might be asked how was it broken in), serial number on the new engine, etc.

Hope this hopes.
