Anybody know how much a 66 ChevyII trunk lid weighs? I thought about getting a fiberglass lid but if the weight difference is minimal I will look elsewhere to drop weight.

Not exactly sure but if I just had to guess I would say that a stock '66 trunk lid weighs around 50 lbs. I have a CF trunk lid and I think it weighed in at around 13 lbs so I would imagine a fiberglass one would be around 17 lb - 20 lbs.

You can see the CF trunk lid in my build thread. Link is in my sig.

Now I'm only guessin' here, I've never actually weighed a trunk lid, but I have removed one and carried it about 50 yds. to another nova. I'd say about 50-60lbs.
Just a stab at it. Maybe better specs will pop up from somebody else.

Yeah that's a valid question.

Many parts on the early Novas are very light to begin with.

Now I never actually weighed it but I know that I saved enough weight when I swapped out my hood to make it worth the swap.

However the difference in fenders isn't that much (if any) and really not worth the hassle.

An O.E.M. deck lid does have that inner panel that would add up the weight but that can be "swiss cheesed" and still be functional.

I'm always fighting weight on Pandora's Box because I drive it on the street and want to keep everything functional.

Now if they would only come up with a 'glass tailgate for my wagon I could probably loose about 200 pounds.

Now that's worth it! :D

I hate to holesaw virgin 66' metal but may be willing to do it. I found a bolt on glass lid but as far as the latch goes im not sure if you can even bolt it up. I think I will call some companies to find out about the latch. I don't want to come up with some way of latching or using dzus fasteners.
