Yenkno - 1972 SS Nova Yenko tribute

Model: Nova SS

Engine: ORIGINAL

Body/Exterior: 2D

Front End: Stock coils

Transmission: TH350 with 2800 SS and shift kit. B&M Quicksilver

Rear End: 12 bolt posi with .355

Exhaust: Headers 2 1/2" duals with Flowmaster 40s

Wheels/Tires: BFG with color matched rally wheels

Interior: stock

Electrical: stock

Accessories/Options: NA

Sound system: Pioneer with 6x9's

Recent Work in completed:
Recover factory bench
Replace grill
Exhaust tips
NOS YENKO badges
Yenko diff cover
New rear bumper and plate holder
NOS washer fluid tank.

Gorgerus car! Love that you kept the green interiror, not a lot of people dares to do that :) Now I know that its possible and still keep it badass!!!

Car looks good but whats up with the stripes on the hood??

its a cross between the 69 Yenko SC stripes and the 70 yenko duece.....the V looks totally out of place without the stripes to follow it
The original owner did the stripe package. Using the hood grills, he couldn't run them in pattern required. Had he run the solid stripes, they would have run with/around the grills. Not sure how long they've been on and not sure I want to take the chance of removing them.
They do look out of place if you know the original pattern. As a tribute car, I'm not going to sweat it too much. Even with the badges that I just installed, I chose to put them in different positions that the originals. The original placement looked like an afterthought in my opinion.

The original placement would have had me move the rear SS badge off center to the left and the badge to the right. As two different types of badges, the looked misplaced to me. Since it's so far off from a clone, I put the badge on the direct opposite side of the trunk as the Nova emblem. To me it just fit better.





The side emblems that would have been forward of the side marker didn't make sense to me either. I chose to put them towards the back of the front quarter at the same height as the side marker.



I'm sure it doesn't make sense to some, but this car is far from a clone. I thought about pulling all of the striping and getting rid of the Yenko motif all together, but the paint is almost perfect and I'll never match it. So now I'm diving in even further.

on an original Yenko the stripes went under those louvers car is in great shape though Keep it clean!!

you actually have those side emblems in the correct spot they go right there above the side louvers

A few more additions. The bench is recovered, the tips are installed and the diff cover is finally done. I installed a new SS grill (just waiting for the new emblem) as well as a new horn button and a new chrome master cylinder cover.

I started tearing down the front end today to find that things aren't as bad as I had thought. Control arm bushings and ball joints are good. I may need to replace the tie rod ends, but they're not too bad. I am going to install front lowering springs. There were new springs and shocks all the way around, but it seems the previous owner used BB springs.

I also just ordered a new rear bumper and liscence plate / gas door. The old ones were rusting and took away from the look. I'll try to post pics of everything done soon.

Updates

I've been doing some cosmetic work getting her ready for the spring...which can't come soon enough.

Re-covered the original front bench with a PUI cover-

New Steering wheel. I couldn't take the Grant wheel. To me it just didn't fit with the rest of the interior. The new one arrived today...

The original wheel (bought with the car)



After a horn button change...tried to dress it up a bit



And now the new one. I just need the time to install her...

Spent some time this morning putting her in. Finished up some other detail work including tightening the new SS grill emblem and installing the seat belts
