It depends on the rim. The early 14" rims will not clear disk brakes. They were made for drums primarily. It has to do with the inside step in the rim barrel. The position of this step determines if it will hit the caliper or not.
The best 14"x6" steel rim to use are the ones that came on late 70's and early 80's GM "G" body cars. like a Malibu. Some 80's era S-10s also ran these rims.
They will clear disk brakes.
