Great answer Pragmatist. I need one of those on mine. And all this time I've been wanting a flux capacitor. But yes, I agree with shifter linkage, I have the same thing on my column

It is also used to operate the sterring wheel lock, back up lights and netural saftey switch when you have a factory floor shifter.

If yours came with a column shift and you now have a floor shifter, you should put something on it to hold it in the up position, so it won't move and keep it in the park location.

While redoing my 72 I cut them off (stick shift) and covered the lower part of the column with a piece of tubing and tucked into the firewall seal. That cleaned everything up.
Had I known it was a turbo igniter selector I wouldn't have wasted money modifying the engine.

Thanks guys. It’s 4 on the floor now so that’s why it currently serves no purpose! ?
