What is the difference between the straight 6 and v 8 radiator support on a 72 model?

The only thing I have run into is the size of the cut out for the radiator, I have swaped v8 engines into 6 cyl cars and never had to change a support. You must use the right top plate though.

So if i use the 6 cylinder support in the v8 car. I just need to modify it to fit the top plate for the 8 cylinder?

Yes on top plate, If you go with a bigger radiator you might have to cut the radiator air flow hole bigger to allow more air flow, you might have to move the rubber lower mounts also to match bigger radiator, good luck
