I have a 330hp GM crate motor with a turbo 350 transmission and the stock 3.08 six cylinder gears in my 8.2" rear end. I feel with 330hp I should be coming off the line much stronger but I also cruise this car a 70mph often and don't want to turn 4K rpm going down the freeway.

I run 3.73's with a 27" tall tire and turn 3050rpm at 65 mph. It's the best of both worlds without an overdrive. When I get the money for a Tremmec I'll step up the a 4.10 which should be even lower rpm at 65.

I had 3.31 for a long time.

I went to 4.10 4 years ago.

I just went down to a 3.73

I don't know why. I only lost a .10 (tenth) on the drag strip from 4.10 to 3.73

The 3.73 is real friendly for the street compared to a 4.10

I have a TH350 28inch 275/60-15 street tires.

Small block I feel the 3.73 is great. A 3.55 will be better for 75mph high way speeds.

Big block 3.31~ Always has been!

At the end of 1998 I ran my car at Carlsbad with 4.56's to try and get a 10 sec. pass for the Hot Rod magazine feature on my car--it went 10.98. A few months later I swapped for 3.73's to do the Power Tour. When I got back from the Tour, it ran 10.81 with 3.73's. Go figure.

When I was doing the swap you said you thought the most I would lose was a tenth. You were dead on!
It did go faster on the juice! :D
