it is 79 nova, 4.8 liter lsx motor, edelbrock ls1 performer rpm intake with 500cfm carb, saganaw 4 speed with 3.11 first gear, with 255/45/17s ,weekend car will be doing some highway driving, has 2.41 gear right now, motor makes 270hp
I personally alway like a 3.73 gear. However, wth that first gear ratio the engine would spin up quickly. With your tire size and all else considered, I would stick with a low 3 ratio IMHO.
If you go too high (like your 2.41) it can wear the clutch more quickly. I would think you would get a big improvement with a 3.36 or 3.42 and still have an acceptable cruise rpm on the highway.
