Those are not bad numbers for hard street tires. With slicks you could be 12.50 or so. Throw a small nitrous kit on it and go low 12's.
Yeah, looks like i need a smaller crank pulleyDefinately get the belt tossing issues straightened out. Then you can focus on having fun with the car.
One of my friends could never keep belts on at the track until we got a different crank pulley and alternator mount. Visually it looked straight, very close with a straight edge, but it was always tweaked just so...
If your alternator is on the driver's side it shouldn't throw the belt as it is being pulled into the groove. Passenger side and it's trying to push the belt therefore throwing it off. Just saying as I think most short pumps probably have the alternator on the driver's side.Standard groove pulleys here short water pump. All pulleys are aligned and have never thrown a belt in almost 20 years with the car. Shift point is 7200. FWIW
Actually i neglected to mention that i have a super stout low mount alt bracket on my car.If your alternator is on the driver's side it shouldn't throw the belt as it is being pulled into the groove. Grind 1/8" off of the alternator spacer if it even looks a little off. You got to look at it hard from the passenger side fender. I regularly buzzed mine from 6500-6800 and did 7000 rpms at times as well. Never slung it after I shortened the spacer. Only slung the belt when I first got it going and hitting it on the street so I shortened it before I took it to the track.I may try a shorter belt & check the alignment.
I'll try that, plus it might benefit having a shorter belt.Grind 1/8" off of the alternator spacer if it even looks a little off. You got to look at it hard from the passenger side fender.
