I see alot of pictures of big blocks that have a small 90 degree heater hose that goes from the to of the water pump to the front of the intake. Just wondering why. I don't have a big block but the car I'm building has no more heater core, so I just plugged the port on the top of the water pump and I plugged the return port on the intake, is this wrong?

The heater core does act as a bypass. Just drill a small hole in the t-stat.

My Moroso pump doesn't have that hole in it. It must be Ok to block it off; it's worked on mine for the last 20 or so years.
