I have a 355ci short block with flat top pistons I am going to buy a set of vortech heads and a performer equivalent intake with a 600 holley carb. I will be running stock exhaust manifold also. What size cam should I get? I'd like to be in the 350HP range or higher:yes:

We built a engine for a Buddy's 76 truck with the same combo with a 700R4 transmission. (he does have long tube small headers)
Holley 650cfm vac carb, Spread bore.
We used a Crane Cams 113511, his purpose was torque and smooth operation.
Cam does have a small lope and a strong exhaust note.

But I can't believe the torque and pull, from idle to 5500rpm the thing is a monster! He has a 3.73 gear, tall tires and gets 16-18mpg average. He does not drive on HWY much. And he constantly heavy on the pedal. Pulls his motorcycle trailer with no issues.
And the thing can burn the tires.
he had to install a posi! HAD TOO!
I never expected the result.
