reason I'm asking is my is off. I have it but it's not attached to the car and I want to attach it

Ahh, got ya but, what kind of body work was needed to repair that section of the door frame, if you don't mind me asking?

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) lists the manufacturer's identity, vehicle type, model year, assembly plant, and production number. On 1962 thru 1967 Novas, the VIN is on a plate attached to the drivers side front door hinge pillar. Chevrolet moved the VIN plate in 1968 and later Novas to the top driver-side of the instrument panel, visible through the windshield.

Hope this helps I had my (vin tag ) removed also while doing the body work
LOOK inside the driver side door jam above the light switch for 2 holes may have to fill around to find them
