Hey guys,

I have a '72 nova with an '87 SB Chevy 350. Im trying to determine which valve springs to go to. The original springs are in the motor now and they are starting to float around 5000. The cam i have is a Crane Cams hydraulic flat tappet (.480/.480, 284/284). I talked to the tech department at Crane a while back and he said i should be able to push to approx. 6500. He recommended a set of springs but i seem to have misplaced the part number he gave me. Could any of you recommend a set of springs and part numbers?

Thank you,
Jason

This is what Isky recommends for their mega 280(480/280)cam PN#6005

6005 DUAL W/DAMPER BLUE (IN) 906-AM 1.005 .730 135 lbs 285 lbs 275 1.120 .550”
(CHROME SILICON) ORG/YELL (O) 305-DHS 1.430 1.070 @1.750” @1.200

requires you to have the valve spring pocket area machined. Comp cams may have something that may not require machining.

Comp Cams 26915 or 26981 beehive spings and 787 retainers. You could also use LS3 take off springs set at 1.75 - 1.74 height. Again you would use the Comp cams 787 retainer.

Edit: These fit in most spring pockets
