yeah, they're pressed in... i've seen guys do them with an air chisel before... but i didn't really care for the job the way it looked... it didn't look all that professional or as nice if the arms had been removed...
persoanlly, i think it's a better job if ya remove the arms...
i just finished mine, i replaced them with energysuspension bushings you definately need a press and use a piece of pipe between them whe installin to prevent tweaking the control arms.
I took mine to Sears once because it was the only place open on Sunday, and I figured they had a press and all the correct tools---The guy cranks em' in a vice and wails away with a friggin hammer!! Hell, I could have done that for free at home. Recently I did them at home with a little heat and a hammer. Sometimes they come out easy, sometimes...........NOT!
Usually the time saved by avoiding removing the upper ball joint from the spindle on a 68 is not worth the extra time, frustration and cuss words needed to replace the bushings with the upper a-frame still on the car.
