Want to upgrade the steering on my 73 and was thinking of rack n pinion but talked to a few people and they have me leaning towards just buying a better steering box! is there any steering box that is smaller then the factory one so you can get more header clearance? I was looking at summit and found these 2 boxes has anyone used these? do they make a bid diff? The ARG one looks smallerbut i know you cant go by the picture

The CPP box is smaller, the ARG box is based on the stock GM case.

with the smaller one do you have to do anything else to install it or does everything bolt up the same?

Sorry I'm not sure.Worst case you'd need adapters for your original style hoses and a different rag joint. CPP should be able to tell you for sure. I'm more sure that the pitman arm will swap.

:yes:I never thought about changing steering box, just bent header to get clearance. I used CCP a-frames and springs with 2" drop spindles and ccp disc brake converson. Still building 383 for her, will see a large difference in handling?
