Which two tone approach do you like better

Two tone choice

Im restoring a 63 Sedan for my wife. She gets to pick the colors and has decided on a two tone Teal and Silver. I created two pictures with the two options of where to break the colors at.

Typical two tones use the upper body line. She's leaning towards the center body line. Im torn a bit, but still leaning towards the traditional break.

Here's the pic. Would appreciate your thoughts. I made it a poll just to keep track so I can show her the results. This is not my car, but an image off the net. So, although I like the wheels, I have no idea what they are.

Thanks

Mike

I like the one on the left. Is you're interior going to be red? RICK

No.. right now plan is for interior to remain black (seats and door panels, but debating on two tone (same colors) for the dash and the rest of the metal in the interior.

Hmmm... having just typed that out, not sure how much I like that. Have to spend more time thinking about the interior. Maybe silver on the metal and teal for the soft stuff.

Damn.. price tag just went up.. Thanks alot Rick (grin)

This is tough. Usually you want to go darker on the bottom as this will give the appearance of a lower body stance. For some reason i am not warming up to the teal and silver . Good call on the black interior by the way.. As you said the usual way is the upper body line but that fact alone makes lean towards the center line break as i like to be different and it just does not look bad.
So there , I have been absolutely no help.... your welcome:D
Good thing on the no red interior. As for the $$ you now what they say it's only money and you can't take it with you! RICK
I like the solid color. My son ZZ3Guy has been trying to get me to two tone my 63. I could get it done for just the cost of the materials. I can't bring myself to do it.I'm from the less is more school.
I like the pic on the right. Try reversing the two colors. Then do one with the bottom all teal and just the roof in silver. I agree with LMH that the darker color should be on the bottom. Black interior also.
Wife said she does not want silver on the top. She really likes the teal/aqua, but not sure I would like it as a single color. The final choice of teal color will probably be a bit darker than the picture shows. I kinda like the two tone look as I like to be different too. If I do a single color, not sure I can handle all teal. Her next choice is a burgundy.

Thanks for the comments thus far guys.

Ultimately her choice, but Burgundy and Silver sounds good to me with the burgundy on the bottom. A deep burgundy with the lighter silver on top. Black interior with a few accents of deep burgundy inside.
Not that this may matter to you guys but if it ever comes to resale teal may shorten the line of interested parties. Although there is always someone out there who may just have to have a Teal car but for me it would get old . Deep Burgundy and Silver is a rich classic look.

Must be my monitor, but it's really difficult to see the differences in the two pictures.

The 2 color choices are different for certain, and that's not a bad thing.

If your comfortable with going outside-the-box with style and paints (as I'am), then I say go with the photo on the left.

Most important thing here is to do it the way "She" wants it done so she will smile everyday

* I also like the two tone with burgundy and silver. Burgundy on top though... "Wife"

Better to have a happy wife her way than a certain color car and a pissed off wife.
The teal on the bottom with the mid break line would be my choice of the two.

Now burgundy and silver... That would be it - but I'm partial to two tone
I like the one on the right. I think it looks more normal with the color break on top of the fenders.
I like the pic on the right ....

:argentina:
Don't really care for either, but if I had to choose or be killed, I would choose the one on the left. Just sayin.
Happy wife, happy life. I'm not big on the 2-tones... unless they're done by Chip Foose

I CHOSE THE RIGHT BECAUSE I THINK THE LEFT IS SHOWING TO MUCH TEAL. TAKE PIC ON THE LEFT UP TO ABOUT HALF OF WHAT'S SHOWING AND THAT WOULD BE IT, RIGHT THERE!
Not a big fan of two tone except when done the way the factory did them. To me, when you two tone any other way, it looks to me like the car had body issues after the paint was done and then it was two toned to save money after subsequent body work. Like paint bubbles that appeared after a few years or a minor accident fix.
Another reason I wouldn't do it is because it was real popular a few years back and if you do one now that way it could make people think your restoration is older than it really is.

I agree with that, but there's no body line to work from. Sure, I could probably get a straight line but all the two tones I've seen pretty much follow a body line of some sort, otherwise they look too weird.
