Trunk hinges

Put my trunk hinges & torque bars on my 67 Nova today. After that I pre-loaded the pass-side hinge and the torque bar broke, good thing for spair parts so after all that I noticed when you pre-load the hinges that the drivers side hinge sit's a little higher than the pass-side hinge when it's pre-loaded. Anyone ever come across this.
