I was messing around and decoded my VIN and body tag. According to the body tag, it was originally a V8 car and the vin decodes to a L6.. Which is correct?

The VIN tag is correct (at least that is the default position). Cowl tags have a history of being incorrect. Bob knows a great deal about this.....

Another great GM/Fisher Body mystery. The cowl tags were the responsibility of Fisher Body and, for some reason, they produced them with V/8 codes, whether the car was to be built as a V/8 or not. The VIN plate was put on near the car's completion and reflects the actual engine in the car. Easy to remember...for engine type the VIN always rules over the cowl tag.

Cowl tag says white.

My cowl tag on my 64 mordoor says its white and the tag is white with some blue/green over spray.

Cowl tag does not apear to have ever been messed with.

I have found no white paint on the car so far. Some one might have striped and repainted? The rust was filled with bondo so I can't believe they would have striped the car good enough to remove all of the white paint.

I would believe the tag was wrong if it wasn't white.

My tags both say it was L6 engine and it is.

Not sure what to believe on my car.
