Transmission cooler

813 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  luepke75
i have a small tranny cooler on the front of the car it doesn't run through the radiator for the extra cooling. is that enough to cool it for a daily driver? or do i need to do a little extra to make it safe to run?

I will take a picture of the cooler tomorrow so every one can see it

A trans temp gauge would be useful in this case, to see if the temps that occur within your driving habits are in a good range.

You could also use an IR gun to take a surface temp reading of the cooler and the return line to the trans after a normal driving cycle with some mixed conditions (traffic, cruise, some WOT action, all on a warm day).
