When I started to attach my transmission to my engine I noticed that, when the torque converter is fully seated (or at least pushed in as far as it will go) there is about a 1/4" gap between it and the flexplate. This requires that I pull the converter out about that far to get the two to bolt together properly. Is this normal? I am sure I have everything bolted together flush and I know the flexplate is installed in the direction it came out. It is the flexplate from my 307, which should be compatible with my new GMPP 290hp 350, so I don't know what's up.
