Can anyone shed some light on what kind of portable tools they would use to go to a Pick N pull to cut off a fuel door on the side of the car?

Thanks in advance !

Cordless sawzall and metal blades
Cordless electric drill for the starter hole,as large of a bit as possible
Cordless angle grinder, sawzall, screwdriver and pliers.
Thanks everyone . Just trying to make sure i dont forget anything to take with me .
I will second the extra battery. LOL :yes::yes:

I would make sure that you have some new metal blades for your sawzall. Nothing like getting there and realizing you only have one that isn't that great left. Been there before it sucks.

If you dont have that you can get a large drill bit drill 4 holes and tin snips between the holes.

Remember what ever tool you use cut a large area so you can trim to fit later.

Yer post kinda hit home for me. A few years ago I was just walking through a local yard and saw a nice honda fuel filler door I wanted. Dummy me, I didnt have ANY tools. It was an unexpected stop.

But I didnt want to do the 30 mins back home, 30 mins back to the yard. So I ask the desk if I could borrow any tools they had. They were nice enough to look around. They found a screw driver and a hammer LOL

So after some dealing we came to a price and the door was mine. Time to remove it. I hacked and hammered the screw driver all the way around the filler leaving about six inches more than I needed.

I gotta say. The 1980 something sheetmetal was some of the toughest, thinnest sheetmetal I have come across. It was super thin but did not want to be punctured or bent at ALL.. Took about a half hour to rip this entire assembly from a good looking quarter. I felt bad afterwards because I left the quarter a mess.

Got my door and brought it home and used some real tools to fix it up.

So yeah, proper tools would have been nice. All the replies were right on. An angle grinder with a cutt off blade would have eaten it right out. But yes, dont forget the simple tools (screw drivers, wrench and hammer) just in case :D

I would use a grinder with blade only cause some cars have some obstructions on the other side of the sheetmetal and you run into the sawzall bump. Meaning the blade with hit something on the back side and just bump the saw around. If you do decide to use an abrasive saw around the filler neck make sure the cap is in place and any vent holes are taped off. You dont need any sparks running down into the tank. JR

The pick and pull around here wont let you cut any parts off cars
