Hi Guys. I've been lurking for about a year while my car (1970) is away at body and paint. Its close to paint now and I need to pick a color and all, but I am thinking of having them weld up the holes for the louvers and Nova emblems. What do you all think? Keep them or not?

okay - your asking for opinions -
here's my II cents
loose the louver (leave those to carmaro guys) keep your emblems unless they are the "heavy chevy" C pillar decals (leave those to the flying firebird guys!)

oh ps I found you've been looking for - your avatar is in the basket with the pooch!

Fender louvers or hood louvers? Personally, I like both but they were only used on 1969 and 1970 Novas. If you plan to remove the "Nova" fender emblems than I'd remove the fender louvers as well.

Fender Louvers. I think I will have them removed. This is just a plain 70 Nova (not a SS or anything special) so originality isn't an issue. I went with a cowl hood so no louvers there. I better let the body guy know before he get to much farther. He'll love me! :smle/mad:

My Bad - you said louver and I wasn't even thinking hood or fender - I was thinking rear window - LOL

Thats what I get for keeping my nose burried in the first and second gens - I need to pay closer attention :D

I agree with NovaResource, if you're gonna loose the louvers or the emblems - loose them together. It will be a nice clean look.

If you add the lovers, that is just more for dirt and material to get trapped behind causing premature rusting and there is no pill to cure that. Plus, that is just something else to get in the way of waxing your car.

I'd say, take all the flashy bling off of it and leave it clean. ( i.e. the sleeper look...)

Depends on what the over all car is going to be, ie stock looking or custom. If it's custom then I say remove them, but if you want it stock I say keep the, I like the look they have on these cars!

I like the smooth look. I would remove them. Personally, I think that year car looks great smoothed out. It has smooth body lines, all the extra ginger bread just takes away from the body. JR
