I Have A Gm Crate Fast Burn 385. I Want To Re-set The Timing Because I Replaced Some Gaskets. My Gm Book Says 32 Degrees Total @ 4000 Rpm With The Vac Disconnected. The Car Idles Around 900-1000. Can I Time It Idling Or Should I Hold It At 4000 Rpm And Time It There? 4 Speed Car.

Thanks,

Steve.

With the vacuum disconnected and carb hole plugged at idle it should be at about 12 degress advanced. Thats a good starting point you can fine tune it from there. It all depends on your cam. Mine is set at about 16-18 degrees. I have a pretty big cam though. Hope it works out for you. :) When in doubt listen to the book that it came with.
