@&$:;$[_~€¥¥€|{[%*+ when did Chevy go to just a pointer on the timing tab and the line on the balancer.
Trying to time my 84 Chevy pick up , had to do it by ear :hiding:
Put my timing light (actron cp7529) on it , it does advanced not before grrrr tried to use it anyway ended up at 76.1  that is not right. Is there a formula
To use this by going advance say X+12=Y to give me 12 degrees BTDC?

The only tab on there is a triangle no numbers :(
Got a tab and timing cover from a 305 just don't want to swap it as this truck is only used for runs for building materials :D
what about degree tape for the balancer and use the cover as tdc.
if you know where TDC is, you're good.

use masking tape around diameter of the balancer. that's 360°

mark tdc. pull the tape and mark at points: divide by 2=180°, divide by 2=90°, divide by 2=45°, divide by 2=22.50°, divide by 2=11.25°

...if you don't wanna spend $ on the timing tape.
Might of figured it out need to look when I get home from work. With the new distributor thought I disconnected the ESC might have disconnected the wrong wire  . Lesson to the youngins don't jump in the middle of the night calling yourself a [email protected]@@ wife thought I was talking to her :D .
Since this truck is only used for store runs don't want to invest much time on it :) . If its not the ESC I will just leave it it sounds good and fires right up when it's warm plus it's a stick so no idling in gear
