I have one from a 76 or so Trans Am. It's been a long time since i did the swap but it's basically a bolt in. I think you have to change the mounting plate at the firewall, use a different rag joint or go with a solid u-joint that matches the splines of the column and the box and you have to mess with the turn signal wiring.

You can see the Flaming River U-Joint in this picture.

'69 Camaro will work. I did one in my '70 model. Rick's first gen sells re-conditioned originals for about $300 with turn signal switch and all. I did it when I installed the roll bar in my car, and probably the best $300 I spent!

Thanks guys, I think a cage is going to be better with the tilt unit.

is it me or does that column look too long. I think that only a 69 camaro is the right length for your car. others will bolt in no prob but I think they are the wrong length. you might wanta ask this qustion on the camaro site. those guys are very helpful too.

Nope it's the same length. I had the column in my 72SS before it became a racecar and it bolted right in. I think the rag joint is different though. It's been a while since i messed with a stock car.

Heres the pics of the 74 Monte Carlo column I put in my 72. All I had to do was shorten the bottom shaft by installing another one and re-glue the collapse grooves and change the bottom flange. I welded a nut inside the lower shaft in order to use a bolt to press the flange on so I wouldn't break the expoxy in the grooves by pressing or hammering.
