I started stripping the paint and found these previously small rust spots. Upon sandblasting the area I found much larger problems. I'm planning to cut out the area and weld in patches. Does anyone have any way to keep this from happening again? It rusted just in the area around the brace. That hole off to the side it where the chrome mount was screwed. That's getting welded closed. I'm guessing just primer and paint the inner brace area?

the nova fenders are a PITA because they have multiple layers, this allows a bunch of areas for water to get trapped....can't do anything more than good epoxy primer and paint it...you may want to consider spraying some undercoating on the backside, that would depend on the usage this car is being built for
