Hi guys, brand new to the forum and the Nova world. I have a 70 coupe with a 350 small block and TH350 trans and it's my first project car.

The speedo gear housing was leaking when I got the car. It also had a gear reducer attached, but it did not have a cable attached. I didn't think that would be a problem...

Well yesterday was the first time she's been up to 70 mph in god knows how long. While decelerating, the housing actually shot out and dumped trans fluid everywhere on the road.

How can I avoid this next time? The retaining plate seemed to have been on correctly. I also have a speedo cable (and a new housing) on the way.

Thanks so much!
