The wood steering wheel was not a factory option for 1966 Chevy IIs and is also not shown in the custom accessories catalogue as a dealer install. It was offered in 1967. The wood steering wheels you see on 66's have usually come from later model Chevy IIs, Chevelles or even Corvairs.
When I had my L-79 in 1967, I did install a teakwood, trying to keep the 66 I have now as stock as possible, I am looking for other options, maybe a grant. I did like the feel of the Teak more than stock.
One other question.
Did they offer a SS badge on the center of the Horn Ring with a Stock steering wheel??
Just working out the kinks, Finding out a lot of differences between 66-67 amazing. I'm going to have to do something about the Steering Wheel. Like I said before I did enjoy the Teakwood...but again the purist in me purists.
