Should I remove the fenders and hood prior to painting my First Gen? is that going to make the process easier and the results better?

Then how hard is it to get it all back on without scratching the works up. Do I need some kind of wood door shims? Paint and Body guys...Help!

Take some masking tape and rub the sticky side on your shirt to make it less sticky and tape off the doors and fender edges while installing the fenders so as not to chip.

I would remove them to paint the car but it all depends on how far you want to go. IMO the fenders should already be off the car to remove mouldings and to get the cowl area nice and good . The paint job will turn out better if all the panels are removed to paint. But be sure to drill alignment holes and mark the shims so reassembly will be easier.
