My new Sun Super II won't work. It is wired as per the instructions. Here is what I'm dealing with: older Accel Super Coil, MSD 6, MSD tach adapter, Pertronix kit in stock dist, and a ballast resistor.(why do I need this?)

Thanks,
Len:confused:

Len,

I just got done looking at the instructions ( at Summit Racing ), and there are 3 primary wires.

BLACK- Ground. Goes specifically to the " - " negative post on the battery.

RED- Connect the RED wire to any vehicle harness wire which is energized
with battery voltage ONLY when the ignition key is in the ON (RUN)
position, NOT OFF or ACCESSORIES.

WHITE- Interior lighting. Hook up this to the "gray" wires that feed into the
back side of the speedometer housing cluster.

GREEN- Connect the GREEN wire to the negative (-) side of the ignition coil. This
terminal may also be referred to as the TACH, TACH TEST, DEC, or ECU terminal.

As for your application, you have the "stock" wiring harness, correct? Just re-check your connections

If running the msd box you put the tach wire to the msd not the coil. There is a connection on the side of the msd for the tach. I have the 6a i belive and it has the spot for a tach on it also when using the msd you don't use the resistor.

I agree with JB, i hooked my signal wire directly to the MSD box on my previous car. Does everything else work on the tach, i.e. lights up, etc?
