SHOULD I go ahead and swap my spring perches as well or just make sure the u-bolts are long enough? I left the mono perches in with multis in the last car but thought Id ask for this one. Also, Ive searched for 7/16's by 3 inch wide u-bolts but cant seem to find any. I can find the right dia. but then they arent wide enough or they are wide enough but Id have to drill out the perch holes.

truck parts store

most truck parts stores around here can make U bolts as long as you want. I believe i would use new perches so you can do a test fit and get the pinion angle nailed down real good.

Look for a three leaf multi-leaf spring and put one cushion between the spring and the perch. You will not need the bottom spring. You can look at 1/2 inch u-bolts and drill the holes to 9/16 inch. This is how Hotchkis mounts thier springs.

I already have the springs

are you saying to remove one of the leaves and go ahead and drill. I'll do it but I remember last time it was a huge pain in the *****. the way the perch bends are, drill bits like to bite the perch

I'm sorry, I meant to say you don't need the bottom cushion. If you already have the five leafs, I'd recommend new perches. Moser sells extra heavy duty ones for $60.

Don't use the rubber cushions, the polyurethane ones suck as well. Instead, buy some steel strap the width of your springs and make some steel spacers if needed so your U bolts will tighten OK. Leave the monoleaf perches on-they'll work just fine. Use a carbide burr in a die grinder to open up the perch holes if drilling won't work for you. The factory style cushions cause too much axle wrap, and the poly versions crack under stress, solid steel works the best IMO.

Have you tried NAPA

I was also thinking of changing the perches because of the gap. However Napa does have the 7/16" x 3"x 7.5" u-bolts. They are long enough if you don't want to drill the perches. Part number is 650-4075. Just bought two more on Tuesday for the other side. . As for the steel strap strap where can you buy this? I used the poly pads. Oh yeah chevy2only also has the u-bolts. Part #27017.(7/16 DIA X 3 1/4 WIDE X 7 1/2 LONG THREADS ARE 3"). Hope this helps
