.I am now looking toward some performance mods and wouldn't mind some suggestions if you have them. Here is a list of how the car will be set up.I am looking for around 400hp and a similar number in torque.

Engine: Goodwrench 350cid
Heads: Vortec 64cc
Trans: TH350
Stall: 2400
Gears: 3.73
Tires: 26"

Is like to have a broad powerband with something that is still useable and fun on the streets. Has anyone had any issues with summit and their cams? They are priced well which is appealing.

Thanks

The GM ZZ430 with the Hot Cam produces 430HP - 430TQ. Any cam around those spec's (Cam Lift: .525” Intake / .525” Cam Duration @ .050”: 218 deg. Intake / 228 deg. Exhaust
Lobe Separation: 112 Degree) with Vortec heads will get you to 400 / 410 on both HP and TQ. Use the Comp springes for your heads listed in this article (http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/vortec_valve_spring_upgrade/index.html) to get the required lift out of your Vortecs...Jack

Cam

Hi,
I have a stock 400 short block with some EQ vortec heads on it and I installed the Lunati 60103 cam. It has too much lift if the heads are stock but I really like it. Good street cam.

What intake/carb you planning on using? I ran a Summit version of the Edelbrock RPM cam in my 350 and it was fuuuuun!

This was my combo-350 with FT pistons,Dart Iron Eagle 215 heads,Victor Jr intake,Holley 750 dp , 1 5/8 headers with 2 1/2" exhaust and a B&M Breakaway torque converter. Basically the same as you have. Like I said,it was a fun lil combo.

I'm running almost the same setup as you, with the CompCam Xtreme Energy XE274H (274/286, 230/236 @ .050Lift .490/.490 Lift) in my 74 Omega!

The 268 and 274 XE cams are the most common cams for a Vortec top end. I've heard good things about Lunati too. The Vortec heads like split pattern cams.

The Edelbrock RPM Arigap intake works well with Vortec heads as well.

SBC 350 to 360 CID Vortec 185/205 GM Fast-Burn Head max power 6000-6200 rpm Peak Torque 3600-3800. Aggressive idle and throttle response. This cam is for the guy wanting neck snapping power from stop light to stop light. 1 5/8” headers along with 2400 stall will work the best with this cam. A “Dirty Bird” 750CFM carb would be the best choice. Use with minimum of 9 to 1 compression. 15" at 850 rpm
