Ok guys, I can use some help here. I put a v8 and a mustang II kit in my 63ss. I don't have a ton of cash left for some flash new rims and tires, and to be honest I don't mind the original look of my small wheels with the stock ss hubcaps. Problem is, the wheels don't fit over the disk breaks I have now in the front thanks to the kit. So whats a guy to do, I went on craigslist and got a set of 15x225 that fit great up front and in the back. Or so I thought... when I go around corners at any speed, I smell rubber. Its the rear wheel well.

Now I'm faced with running the 15" rally wheels up front to get over the disks, and the stock 14" wheels in back so I'm not smelling like burning rubber when crusing around a turn at 35mph.

Any thoughts / comments / ideas? I know the right answer is to get a sweet new set of shoes (that match) but I'm out of cash...

I assume you went to 5 lug all the way around? I dont think 14's can be done with front disk brakes, my advice would be to go to a 15x6 on all 4 corners, you should be able to get by with about a 225/60R15 or 215/65R15 or 205/70R15 on the rear.....for the front you should be able to fit 195/65R15 or so....(I dont know if a 195/70R15 exists, but if it does, that may be okay on all 4 corners to for an original look and stance)

On my 67 I used to run around with a 225/70R14 on the back and "skinnies" up front- a 15x3.5 inch wheel with 165R15's, but that was sort of the racer look at the time......

This may not help your dilemna but my advice would be to watch craigslist for some 15x6 rally's......Trav

Correct wheel & tire size for 62-65

15x7 Rallies w/4.5 backspacing 225/60/15 rear tires & 195/60/15 front. This combo will fit all 62-65 nova's with no problems and if you have a MII frontend you could probally up the size of the front tires to 205/60/15 or 215/60/15. This is if you want to run 15" wheels. I had the same combo on my 63 2 dr. sedan with no problems and I am now in the process of installing a Heidts front clip with 17" wheels and anyone out there can give me a little advise on 17" wheel & tire combo sizing for 62-65.

Junkyard 78-87 G-body 14x6 rims will do the trick. Look at Montes, Regals, Malibus, Cutlass, and 82-87 S-10s. :)
He is right. These rims clear disk brakes quite well. Assuming you can find a complete matched set, this is the best least expensive way to go If you're wanting to retain the stock look running dog caps or wheel covers.
I'm going this route on my 64. I sold a set of 4 15" rallys for $100 and bought my set of 5 14" G body rims for $45 and have money left to put toward mounting a set of tires on them.
